Quality Analysis 100/100
This denim is built to last, featuring a burly 18oz weight and robust construction details like custom branded copper rivets, hidden back pocket rivets, and chain-stitched hems, all contributing to exceptional longevity. The use of the reputable Studio D'Artisan brand further confirms its high-quality, durable nature.
Comfort Assessment 60/100
The comfort score starts low due to the burly, heavyweight 18oz denim fabric, which is 100% cotton and lacks any stretch claims. However, the "Regular Straight" fit offers a roomy top block and full cut through the legs, which should prevent excessive restriction.
Sustainability Impact 80/100
The use of the traditional Japanese mud-dye technique, "Amami Dorozome," is a strong positive indicator, as this artisanal process utilizes vegetable tannins and mud, suggesting a lower environmental impact than conventional synthetic dyes. However, the text does not provide any information about the cotton's origin or whether it is certified organic or recycled.

Celebrating its 45th anniversary, Studio D’Artisan introduces the SP-120S Amami Dorozome Denim, built from a burly new 18oz denim fabric. Crafted as a double-indigo fabric, the jeans are sewn and then overdyed on the island of Amami Ōshima using the traditional Japanese mud-dye technique of dorozome. This artisanal technique combines vegetable tannins with mud to create an earth tone unique to each garment. The result is a deep, unique color which will fade from brown, to blue, and finally white as the core of the yarn is exposed. Presented in a rinsed state to prevent shrinkage, these jeans feature exclusive limited-edition details.
